No images from Seymour Manufacturing Co.
Location:Seymour, Connecticut. United States of America
Built:1880
Destroyed:2000
History:

Other People's Money (1991) This light comedy starring Danny DiVito as Larry the Liquidator, is about the takeover of New England Wire and Cable, and was filmed in my old hometown of Seymour, Connecticut, despite being placed in Vermont in the film. The factory was The Seymour Manufacturing Company which did, just as in the film, make copper wire and brass products. As the limo window slowly goes down in one scene, you see the factory across the Naugatuck River, between parts of two huge concrete pillars holding up Route 8, which goes over the town. Mr. DiVito's character, Larry the Liquidator speaks: What a s--t pit. An entirely correct evaluation often spoken of by my dad and others who worked there. The factory was torn down in 2000, and a Stop and Shop Superstore (groceries R Us) now sits on the site.
